Homes

We have a few options for homes:

Wooden/concrete Eco-Homes

For an additional $97,000 we will have our local Belizean contractor build you a two bedroom ecohome with kitchen, living room, bathroom (w/ shower), large deck, on stilts (to avoid insects), and with hi-speed wireless internet, rainwater catchment system, solar/hydro powered, and a biogas harvesting composting biodigester toilet. Comes with gas stove, refridgerator, couch & loveseat, cieling fans, 2 double beds, iGroove sound system (ipod docking station, also compatible with mp3 players, PDA’s, laptops, etc..), silverware, dishes/bowls/mugs/glasses/pots/pans, and toaster.

Tent/Yurt/Geodome Eco-Homes

We will soon be offering some yurt/geodome designed eco-homes that have material coverings for roof and walls. We don’t have exact pricing yet, but are looking into eco-options for materials that will withstand tropical weather. Polyolefin material seems to be one of our best researched options thus far as it is a type of durable and stable plastic that is UV resistant, mould/mildew resistant, water resistant, and fully recyclable. Since polyolefin is a stable plastic compound, it does not release any dangerous chemicals, which is the biggest concern when building with plastics, as most PVC plastics release chemicals hazardous to health and smell strongly of chemicals.

We will post more information on pricing of these units as it becomes available.

Building Your Own Eco-home

You can build your own ecohome if you like. Your plans must first be passed by the community to ensure the eco-standards of the community and avoid anyone from building homes that are too resource heavy or generally too large. Cob, rammed earth, earthships, sand bag, or wooden cabins are all possible options for building your eco-home, considerations for proper eco-plumbing are important.
