HYDROLOGY

BIB property’s major water feature is the Macal River. The Vaca Plateau and the Maya Mountains contain substantial surface streams and subterranean drainage. Many creeks and watersheds from within Mountain Pine Ridge and the Vaca Plateau empty into the Macal River. Fresh water from granite bedrock and the limestone formation in the Macal River watershed area ensures access to high quality drinking water throughout the year. The BIB property is situated downriver from the Mollejon Dam and upriver from the Vaca Dam site. The Vaca Dam is slated for commission in 2009. The Dam will form a reservoir for storage and release. BECOL officials have suggested that the BIB property will not be affected by the reservoir. BIB is committed to waste management and erosion control measures that will insure that the property’s watershed will experience no negative impact from development.
